Nova Natie, a well-established player in the Port of Antwerp, approached us with a clear question:
“Can you transform one shipping container into two fully compliant safety cabins?”

Our answer was straightforward: “Of course, we can.” After thorough discussions and analysis, we immediately got to work. The new cabins had to be built in accordance with CEPA recommendations and delivered within the shortest possible timeframe.

Solution

We successfully created two portable safety cabins from a single 20ft shipping container. Following a detailed design phase and close coordination with the client, the project was delivered in just 4.5 weeks.

Project Specifications

  • Base: 1 repurposed 20ft shipping container
  • Access: Open side for easy entry
  • Visibility: Transparent elements on three sides (plexiglass)
  • Interior: Seating and storage bench crafted from recycled container flooring. Designed to store helmets, fluorescent jackets, and various work tools, with a space to rest.
  • Mobility: Forklift pockets for easy relocation
  • Safety: Fluorescent markings and elements meeting safety standards
  • Finish: Vibrant yellow color for maximum visibility

Result

The safety cabins fully comply with stringent safety standards, offering terminal staff a comfortable and functional workspace. By repurposing materials and incorporating a thoughtful design, this project enhances both safety and sustainability.
